AI for Marketing and Social Media

Use AI to draft social posts, newsletters, ad copy, and blog outlines — while keeping your brand voice.

What This Guide Covers

AI won't replace your creativity or your understanding of your audience. What it will do is eliminate blank-page syndrome — the worst part of marketing is staring at an empty text box. AI can draft, you edit. AI can generate options, you choose. AI can repurpose, you approve.

This guide gives you practical prompt templates for every major marketing channel. The key to good results: always give the AI examples of your best work first. It mirrors what it sees.

  • •Social media posts for LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram, and Facebook
  • •Email newsletters with hooks, body, and calls to action
  • •Ad copy and landing page variants for A/B testing
  • •Blog outlines, meta descriptions, and SEO content
  • •Repurposing one piece of content across multiple channels

Step 1. Social Media Posts

Different platforms need different voices. LinkedIn rewards professional insight. Twitter/X rewards brevity and wit. Instagram rewards visual storytelling. Facebook rewards community-focused warmth.

The secret to consistent brand voice: give the AI 2-3 examples of your best posts before asking for new ones. It learns your style from what you show it.

LinkedIn Prompt Template

Here are 3 of my best LinkedIn posts [paste examples].

Now write a LinkedIn post about [topic]. Include:

- A hook in the first line (statistic, question, or bold claim)

- 3-4 short paragraphs with line breaks between them

- A clear takeaway or call to action at the end

- No hashtags in the body — add 3-5 relevant hashtags at the end

Tone: [professional but approachable / authoritative / conversational]

Twitter/X Prompt Template

Write a Twitter/X thread about [topic]. Structure:

- Tweet 1: Hook that makes people want to read more

- Tweets 2-4: Key points, one per tweet, each under 280 characters

- Final tweet: Summary + call to action or question

Tone: [concise and punchy / educational / opinionated]

Instagram Prompt Template

Write an Instagram caption for a post about [topic/visual].

Include: a relatable opening line, the main message in 2-3 short sentences,

a call to action (save this, share with someone, comment below),

and 5-10 relevant hashtags. Use emojis sparingly for emphasis.

Step 2. Email Newsletters

Good newsletters follow a simple structure: hook, body, call to action. AI can draft all three — you provide the topic, audience, and tone.

Newsletter Prompt Template

Write a monthly newsletter for [business name], a [type of business] serving [audience].

Announcement: [what's new — product, event, offer, insight]

Structure:

1. Subject line (under 50 characters, no clickbait)

2. Preview text (the snippet that appears next to the subject line)

3. Opening: Warm greeting + one-sentence summary of what's inside

4. Body: 2-3 short paragraphs on the main topic. Keep it personal.

5. Call to action: clear next step (book a call, read more, reply)

Tone: [warm and personal / professional / friendly expert]

Length: ~300 words

For a recurring newsletter, save this prompt as a ChatGPT Project with your brand voice guide uploaded. Each month, just tell it the new announcement — the structure stays consistent.

Step 3. Ad Copy and Landing Pages

AI is exceptional at generating ad variants for A/B testing. Give it your product details, target audience, and the format you need — it produces multiple options in seconds.

Ad Copy Prompt Template

Generate 3 variants of ad copy for [product/service].

Product: [one-line description]

Target audience: [who they are + what problem they have]

Key benefit: [the one thing that makes it worth buying]

Each variant should include:

- Headline (under 40 characters)

- Description (under 90 characters)

- Call to action button text (2-3 words)

Run all three variants as an A/B test. Let the data tell you which resonates — AI generates the options, your audience picks the winner.

Step 4. Blog Posts and SEO Content

AI can outline, draft, and optimise blog content — but you should always fact-check, add your own expertise, and inject real-world examples. AI content without human editing reads as generic.

Blog Outline Prompt

Create a blog post outline about [topic] for [audience].

Target keyword: [keyword]

Include:

- SEO title (under 60 characters, includes keyword)

- Meta description (under 155 characters)

- H1, H2s, and H3s (the skeleton of the post)

- 3-5 key points under each heading

- Suggested internal links to include

Once you have the outline, you can ask the AI to expand any section into full paragraphs. Work section by section — it's easier to steer and edit than asking for a 2,000-word draft all at once. See also: SEO & GEO Guide

Step 5. Repurpose One Piece of Content Across Channels

This is where AI saves the most time. One blog post can become a week's worth of social content. One webinar can become a newsletter, three LinkedIn posts, and a Twitter thread.

Repurposing Prompt Template

I'm going to paste a [blog post / video transcript / webinar summary].

From this content, create:

1. A LinkedIn post (professional tone, 150-200 words)

2. A Twitter/X thread (5 tweets, each with one key insight)

3. An Instagram caption (conversational, emoji-friendly, 125-150 words)

4. A newsletter snippet (200 words, warm and personal)

Maintain the core message across all formats. Adapt tone and length for each platform.

One hour of writing (or one AI-assisted draft) becomes a full week of social media presence. This is the single highest-ROI use of AI for marketing.

Step 6. Build a Repeatable Workflow

Don't prompt from scratch every time. Build a system:

  1. 1.Save your brand voice. Create a ChatGPT Project or Claude Project with your brand guidelines, tone of voice, and 3-5 examples of your best content. Every new chat in that project automatically writes in your voice.
  2. 2.Create prompt templates. Save the templates above in a document (Notion, Obsidian, or a simple text file). Fill in the blanks each time instead of writing a new prompt.
  3. 3.Batch your content creation. One focused session per week: Monday = outline all posts, Tuesday = draft all copy, Wednesday = edit and schedule. AI makes batching faster because it eliminates the hardest part — starting.
  4. 4.Always edit. AI drafts are starting points, not finished products. Add your personality, your stories, your actual expertise. The AI can't do that — only you can.

Quick Tips

  • •Always feed the AI examples of your best work first — it learns your tone from what you show it.
  • •Ask for multiple variants. "Give me 5 headline options" is always better than "write a headline."
  • •Specify what NOT to do. "Don't use exclamation marks" or "don't mention competitors" — constraints sharpen output.
  • •For recurring content (weekly newsletter, daily posts), set up a ChatGPT Project with your templates pre-loaded.
  • •Fact-check everything. AI will confidently invent statistics, product features, and client names. Verify before publishing.
